Letter From The Queendom Of Retailia

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! has received her official invite to the Queendom of Retailia. As she has been MIA for the last week (my guess is she is stuck in some USPS Christmas backlog somewhere.), I've taken it upon myself to open it on her behalf.

Instructions to make up the "signed limited edition collector's model of the STG (Shopping Trolley Gallery)", which I fully intend to build, so she can ride around in Retailia in style (Who needs sleep? Not I surely!).
Then, there is the official banknote of "10 Marths" of which I'm not sure the exchange rate is currently compared to the Canadian dollar. But, according to the note on the back of it, it should "tide" Kitty Kawaii! over while she is there.

How very nice of Queen Martha to think of you and your comforts, Kitty Kawaii! Now, if I could only locate you, so I could forward it. Hmmm...Maybe I should take a trip to Retailia?!

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! Treat For Y'all!

Recently, I was invited to participate in a mail art call for "The Seven Deadly Sins" and being in "Kitty Kawaii!" mode, I submitted my version of "Gluttony" starring ZKK. I've always loved "Gluttony"; it makes me think of the Kings (or Queens) of old and their huge, over the top feasts. But, I digress:

Me thinks Queen Kitty Kawaii! has eaten too many Zombie Mousies.

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! Origins...

The other day, while rooting around in my studio, I came across the first drawing I ever did of Zombie Kitty Kawaii!
In 2009, I was teaching a "how to draw Manga" course on Saturday mornings at the Dragonlake studio for some friends of mine. The kids were great and really loved scary things, like vampires, werewolves, and zombies. They really loved their zombies. So wanting to combine "Kawaii" (cute) with "Kowai" (scary), Zombie Kitty Kawaii! was unleashed upon an unsuspecting public.
Now without any further ado, I give you the first ever drawing of "Kitty Kawaii!

Total miles traveled from Toronto to Iowa City, IA: 726. Good on ya, Kitty Kawaii!

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! Arrives In Iowa City, IA, U.S.A!

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! arrived at "i'm a superhero i can like fly and shit" (or "superhero" for short) home in Iowa City late last night. As she was tired from her eventful trip to Elgin, IL with Diane, he made sure she had a comfy bed to sleep in.

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! looks much perkier after a good nights rest. Watch out "superhero"! Who knows what she'll get up to, when she is like this!

And, look! "superhero" (aka "Lobster Johnson") has already signed her passport! Thank you for the sneak peak, "superhero"!

Zombie Kitty Kawaii!: The Trip So Far...

Just in case you all wanted to know how far Zombie Kitty Kawaii! has traveled (and I know you all are dying to know), her trip from Port Washington, WI, to Elgin, IL was 121 miles down the I-94 E, but in a postal envelope and not a car.
Add that to her previous trip, Toronto, Ontario to Port Washington, WI, which was 633 miles (or 1,019 km) and that means she has traveled 754 miles so far, all by the Canadian and US Postal Systems. Well done, Kitty Kawaii!

A Whole Lot Of Touring Around...

Wow! Zombie Kitty Kawaii! and Diane certainly tore up Elgin, IL with touring today!  Describing today's foray, Diane says;

"Zombie Kitty had a great time visiting the Hindu temple. It is made completely of imported Indian Marble and is hand carved."

"She wanted to go inside, but they wouldn't let her past the gates. They were afraid her limbs would drop off  and they didn't want to assume liability."

Yes, I could see how that could be a real problem. Leaving your limbs all over the place is just bad form, in any case. But, I do see that you made a good friend in that green elephant, Kitty Kawaii!
"She waited patiently for the mailman to come and luckily didn't scare him off. He's tough-he's faced bigger scarier dogs. He told me when he encounters a pit bull he growls back at them."

Well, Diane, I hope she was kind to your postman; she knows that if your not nice to the postman, your mail ends up in the back of the flower bed (yuck).

" The last pic is of Zombie Kitty first thing this morning in the very first frost we've had this season."
Good thing you still have most of your fur, Kitty Kawaii! or else it could have been a pretty cold affair. Brrrrr! Thpppt!

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! Gets Spiritualized In Elgin, IL

I think the photos and Diane's commentary speak volumes on Zombie Kitty Kawaii!'s second day in Elgin, IL. Diane writes; "Zombie kitty had a great day yesterday. She went to the Mind/Body/Spirit Fair. There were wonderful aromatherapy candles burning (although she wasn't crazy about some of the scents), she had her cards read, and then had an aura photo..."

...She looks awfully shiny for being dead. "

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! You certainly are making the most of your visit in Elgin, IL and what a surprisingly shiny Zombie Kitty you are! Who knew?

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! arrives in Elgin, IL!

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! left Port Washington, WI only to arrive in Elgin, IL a day later. Pretty quick travels, if you ask me! She must have caught the USPS postal express.

Now,  Zombie Kitty Kawaii! is ingratiating herself upon Diane and her family and on Diane's cat, Salem. Nice Christmas cap, Kitty Kawaii! It suits!

As Diane has said; "She's a very polite houseguest and even though she's dead, she followed protocol." Good to hear it, Kitty Kawaii!
However, there was one "unfortunate mishap".

"But, since she's undead, she came out just fine." says Diane. "She even said it felt like a massage. No tire tread tracks thankfully!"
Yes, there are certainly advantages to being undead. And, I'm glad to see Salem doesn't mind sharing the litter box!

So, what adventures will Zombie Kitty Kawaii! get up to with Diane next! Just stay tuned!

Meet Zombie Kitty Kawaii!'s New Friend...

It seems that Port Washington, WI, holds many surprises for Zombie Kitty Kawaii!, including another Zombie Kitty! Angie's daughter, Maggie, made  the very kawaii Zombie Kitty2, so ZKK had a traveling companion. Angie writes: "Louise, my husband REALLY likes ZKK. I know, because he wasn't even angry when she and her new friend climbed our Christmas tree (and he told me).

Well, well, Kitty Kawaii!, you certainly have endeared yourself to Angie, Snooky, Zombie Kitty2, Maggie and Angie's husband. Now, just don't knock down that lovely Christmas tree, ok?

Zombie Kitty Kawaii! and her pal, Snooky.

After spending a week in Port Washington, WI, with her hosts Angie and Snooky, this photo turned up this morning. Says Angie:
"It's been a busy week, but Snooky and ZKK took a minute to pose under the Christmas tree."

And a nice photo it is! Let's hope Zombie Kitty Kawaii! was a good guest and didn't leave any of her body parts behind. Thank you, Angie and Snooky, for having "Kitty Kawaii!" visit you!

So, where will she turn up next?
